Google releases its autonomous car

The search giant creates the Waymo division to work on the development of this vehicle

Apple announced a few weeks ago that it started its autonomous car again. Google also returns to heat up the engines of its Google Car, which is reborn as Waymo, an independent entity within Alphabet.

After six years of work in the division of Google X, the department of special projects, the autonomous car of the giant search engine begins to travel kilometers alone.

The CEO of Waymo will be John Krafcik, although all the decisions made in the new company will have to be reported to Alphabet. The goal that Krafcik has in front is to have the necessary technology ready to deploy the Google Car for the American roads starting in 2020.

Waymo has already taken the first steps to "be profitable for Alphabet," says the CEO of the new company.

Google and Fiat Chrysler Automobiles NA have joined their paths to achieve the 2020 goals. With this alliance, the automobile will be responsible for building the vehicles to test the Waymo technology.
