IBM Watson is ready to fight against cybercrime

Uses cognitive technologies, but is still in beta

Cybersecurity is one of the essential pillars of companies and they are increasingly paying attention to this field in their budget items. Cybercrime is becoming more frequent and more complex.

To identify and curb their threats, leading companies in the banking, health, insurance, education and other industries have joined the Beta program of IBM Watson for Cyber Security.

The IBM project uses cognitive technologies such as machine learning and natural language processing, which can help security analysts make better decisions more quickly from large amounts of data.

Watson for Cyber Security takes full advantage of IBM's cognitive technology, and is being trained to understand the unique language of security. In this way security analysts can make better decisions from structured data, but also from the huge amount of unstructured data that until now had been invisible to the defense systems of organizations.

The beta clients are taking advantage of Watson in their security environments in different cases, such as determining if a security breach is or is not associated with a known campaign of 'malware' or cybercrime; if so, Watson provides information about the malware used, the vulnerabilities and the scope of the threat, among other things.

It also improves the identification of suspicious behavior. Watson provides an additional context to the activity of the user, which allows to determine if an activity is malicious or not.
