Samsung will also eliminate conventional headphones

A leak reveals that the company follows in Apple's footsteps and abandons the 3.5mm jack input for helmets in the Galaxy S8

When Apple showed the world its new iPhone 7 without a headphone jack, it caused a stir. The company has opted for wireless helmets - which has been called AirPods - that do not end up liking its loyal fans (among other things for its price of around 200 euros).

Despite the criticism received, and after also Motorola and several Chinese companies have eliminated this entry of helmets in their latest models, the South Korean giant Samsung, Apple's number one competitor, has taken the step forward.

According to the information unveiled by Sammobile, a website specializing in Samsung products, will get rid of the traditional headphone port (the 3.5mm mini jack) in its new Galaxy S8 model, its big bet for 2017 with which they try to overcome the failure of the Galaxy Note 7 due to the problems derived from the explosion of the batteries of some of these terminals.

Instead of the mini jack, the South Korean company will bet on the new standard USB-C, which will serve both to charge the phone and transfer files and to listen to music with a helmet adapted.

According to information from Sammobile, by eliminating the mini jack the Samsung Galaxy S8 will be thinner and will have a larger space for a battery with more capacity.

We must bear in mind that for now there are only rumors and that this information has not been confirmed by Samsung, so we will have to wait for the presentation of the terminal at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona (from February 27 to March 2, 2017) to discover if all speculations come true.
