Instagram will allow its users to deactivate the comments in the images

Until now it was only possible for some accounts with privileges

The social network of Instagram images will allow users to deactivate offensive comments, eliminate followers and rate positive comments to avoid abuses, Facebook's affiliate said in a statement.

Instagram will start "soon" to allow its users to deactivate the comments in some posts, something that, until now, was only available in some special accounts. This option will allow Instagram photos or videos not to be exposed to comments, which in many situations are offensive, something that has affected several celebrities, who have been forced to close their accounts of the social network.

This measure adds to the recently announced possibility to filter comments if they contain certain words, which reduces the possibility of offensive comments. Likewise, Instagram will also integrate the possibility of clicking "like" in comments, what the social network expects to encourage positive evaluations and that will give priority to the comments promoted by the user.

Another of the announced features will be the possibility that private accounts, those in which the user must approve all his followers, may revoke access to some of those accounts. Until now, this process was complicated and could only be done by blocking the user.

These measures are part of a longer-term Instagram plan to make the popular social network more respectful and safe for its participants.
